INSTALLATIONS YEAR ROUND
If your garage lacks storage, that can seriously impact its usability as a working space. Whether you're tinkering with your car or want a room for hobbies too loud or messy for the house, a great garage can be a wonderful place to work - but only if it has enough storage.
Unfortunately, people who lack enough cabinets and other storage in their garage tend to go for cheap upgrades - and then they end up regretting their choice. Even the best garage storage solutions aren't that expensive, and they'll offer a lot more years of use compared to the cheap alternatives.
If you're looking for a storage upgrade, don't pick the following.
One cabinet is as good as another, right? We often see people attempting to repurpose kitchen cabinets to use in the garage. Unfortunately, the sizes available for kitchen cabinets are much smaller than the large cabinets made for garages. The kitchen cabinets will not properly organize the larger contents of a garage and were designed to store plates, dishes and pans.
Aluminum is a wonderful material with many uses - but it makes for poor garage cabinets. It's just not strong enough. Garage cabinetry is often called on to hold relatively heavy items, such as paint cans and large power tools. Aluminum will become dented or strained easily when holding up such things. If the cabinets are particularly cheap, the hinges and connections might even fail - creating a huge mess.
Good metal cabinets should be made of steel, for the proper strength needed to stand up to extended use. Both aluminum and metal cabinets are usually finished with a coating that is easily scratched too.
Honestly, just don't. Plastic garage cabinets are always cheap and flimsy and won't be able to last long in use. Worse, they're usually made out of that sort of plastic that fades and discolors quickly when exposed to the elements or UV light. So they won't be strong enough to hold up all your tools, and they'll look ugly within a year or so.
When it comes to garage storage solutions, it really is worth paying a little extra for high-quality cabinets that will last for years and were made specifically for a garage. Contact Garage Finisher to learn more about our Lifetime Warranty garage storage options.
